The Small Holding
The Small Holding is a farm-led restaurant rooted in seasonality, sustainability and a deep connection to the land. Set within its own one-acre farm in Kent, the project brings growing, sourcing and cooking into a single, considered system, where produce, place and process are closely intertwined.

Our role was to shape the visual and spatial expression of the restaurant. This included website design and build, photography, UX, menu design and interior design, alongside developing a narrative that communicates the story of the land, the kitchen and the team to guests and beyond.

The work focused on balancing clarity and usability with a sense of warmth and restraint, reflecting the ethos of the restaurant.

Beyond the visual layer, we supported how the brand is experienced day-to-day, refining structures across menus and user journeys to ensure consistency between intention and delivery.

The result is a considered identity that moves fluidly between online presence and in-restaurant experience, grounded in simplicity, seasonality and care. The Small Holding has established a strong and distinctive reputation, with continued growth, ongoing recognition and a deepening relationship with its guests.
A direct and literal name, grounded in craft and simplicity, supported by the line ‘a modern butchery’ to signal a fresh and contemporary approach.
A restrained identity built around clarity, weight and quiet confidence.

Imagery focused on process and place, capturing the relationship between land, animal and craft.
Thank you to the teams at Spratsbourne Estate and Acre for their collaboration and support throughout the project.
